U-PIC Insurance Services, Inc. (CA Dept. of Insurance Licenses #2E61972 & #0E61972) has insured clients since 1989. In 2014, they began insuring tech devices in schoolS through their School Device Coverage division. In 2018, they expanded to other verticals, including Public Safety.
Insurance offered by Tech Device Coverage (TDC) is unlike a manufacturer’s warranty program. Rather than protecting against events that rarely take place, like a system malfunction caused by something the manufacturer did, TDC covers insurable events which do occur.
The listed covered events are common among users of these devices. While some manufacturers do offer expanded warranty programs including Accidental Damage Protection (ADP), they are typically limited to one or two claims per year per device, or over the life of the device, usually with some form of deductible. TDC offers higher overall claims limits, and no deductibles. The expanded coverage handles far more than a warranty, or an extended warranty with ADP.
